Code navigation
Jump to definitions and find usages, from the keyboard or the mouse.
The terminal app uses the same language support as the Mac app: TypeScript, Swift, Ruby and PHP. It works on any file you browse, and on the new side of a diff of uncommitted or branch changes.
From the keyboard
Navigation works with a word cursor that moves between symbols.
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
w b | Next and previous symbol |
0 $ | First and last symbol on the line |
* # | Next and previous use of the symbol |
| Return | Go to the definition |
K | Show the symbol's signature and docs |
u | Find usages |
. | List the symbols on this line |
@ | Go to a symbol in the open file |
{ } | Previous and next definition in the file |
| ⌃O | Go back to where you jumped from |
| ⌥→ | Go forward again |
With the mouse
Hover over a symbol to see its signature and docs. Right-click it for Go to definition, Find usages, Show info, Comment and Copy.
⌘-click goes straight to the definition in terminals that pass ⌘ through. ⌥-click and ⌃-click do the same in any terminal.
Usages
Usages open in the bottom pane (⌥⌘6), grouped by file, next to a preview of
the selected one. j and k move through them, Return opens one, and r
searches again.
Searching files
Press ⇧⌘F, or choose Search in the palette, to search the text of every file. Toggle case sensitivity, whole words and regular expressions with ⌥C, ⌥W and ⌥R. ⇧⌘O finds a file by name.
